This magnificent palace, located in the village of Gastouri, 10 km away from Corfu’s town, was constructed by the Empress of Austria, commonly known as Sissy. The decoration of the Palace was chosen by Sissy herself, indicating that she adored the Greek ancient culture. Achilles is one of the major exhibits of this palace.
This Byzantine Castle is situated in the area of Agios Mattheos, to the southwest of Corfu and dates back to the 13th century. This castle, as most of the castles on Corfu, has been used for contributing to the defense strategies against enemies. Nowadays most of the parts of the interior of the castle have been ruined, but the exterior construction has been maintained.
This lagoon of Corfu, located to the southwest of Corfu, is a natural habitat for sea birds, where you can watch several bird species. There you will find also an extremely long, sandy beach surrounded by a cedar forest.
